Ending the Cycle of Violence

What is it?

Through narration, interviews, reenactment, animation, and documentary segments, Ending the Cycle of Violence explores the realities of youth violence, the consequences of choices, and the capacity of empathy and forgiveness to break the cycle of violence. This multifaceted program focuses on the powerful story of Tariq Khamisa, Tony Hicks, and their families to provide an astonishing, real-life example of the ripple effects of violence, and the nonviolent choices one can make to end the cycle of violence. The series includes six videos:

1) From Murder to Forgiveness (33 min)
2) Violence Is Real and Hurts Everyone (23 min)
3) Everyone Deserves to Be Loved and Treated Well (33 min)
4) Actions Have Consequences (22 min)
5) Choosing Forgiveness Instead of Revenge (25 min)
6) Making the Nonviolent Choice (20 min)

Along with the videos, Ending the Cycle of Violence contains a 12 week session curriculum.
This curriculum is designed to be facilitated as a group, once a week for an hour.  The sessions include topics such as but not limited to: Gangs, Drugs, Health, Violence and a Fieldtrip or Community Service Project during the final stages of the program.
